As per the votes in that thread, we've had 12 people vote (11 teams) and votes have come out 9-2 in favour of a "Competitive Balance" idea.
Instead what our first shot will really be is more of a "Competitive Incentive" rule. Incentives come in the form of addition cap space, for one year only. Beginning next offseason will be the first recipients of the incentives.
Teams will have the opportunity to win incentives for the following:
Make the Playoffs: $1M
Win a Division: $1M
3rd: $1M
2nd: $2M
Champ: $3M
Again, these are one-time payouts - they will not carry over year to year. Winners this year will have extra cap for 2018, winners in 2018 will have for 2019, and so on. Max any team can win is an extra $5M.
