There are two situations we're looking at, and a different set of rules for both.
1. Teams own a pick from a team that has been contracted:
If you received a pick from a contracted team, you will no lose the pick. We will keep those picks in the draft order as though the teams were normally there. For example, the Giants traded their 1st round pick in 2015 to the White Sox. The White Sox will still get to pick in the slot that the Giants would normally occupy based on the final standings. This could lead to rounds where there are more than 16 draft picks in a round.
For 2016, the issue becomes a little more complicated because we don't have final standings to base where the picks from contracted teams should be located. I'm very open to suggestions or ideas for this. My initial thought is to keep the team's picks in the same slots as they occupied in 2015 and push teams back one after that slot. However, we could also just award picks at the end of each round instead. Up for debate, luckily we don't have to decide till 2016.
2. Teams have traded their pick to a contracted team:
This is much simpler. If you traded a pick to the Rays, Braves, Rockies or Giants you simply lose that pick in that round. You will see picks highlighted in red on the master spreadsheet; those are the picks that are lost for that round. For example, the Orioles traded their 2nd round pick in 2015 to the Giants, who have been contracted. Instead of there being 16 picks in the 2nd round, there will now only be 15 picks as every team after the Orioles moves up one spot.
