Had this rule brought to my attention that I want to carry over from our old league, and wanted to let everyone know about it.
In prior years we put a semi-freeze on most roster movement as soon as playoffs started. What that means is, once playoffs start only bids of 1 year are allowed on free agents, and the only teams eligible to bid are the 8 playoff teams (then 4, then 2, as teams get eliminated). All teams are still allowed to callup/demote prospects, but normal add/drops of players on non-playoff teams are not allowed.
This "freeze" is so that non-playoff teams don't make a move that could impact the playoff matchups, whether it's by dropping a productive player that playoff teams would bid on, or by picking up a free agent that could have otherwise helped a playoff team that lost a player to injury. Since all contracts past the playoff date are for 1 year only anyways, they'll be free agents at season's end and up for bid in the offseason again to all teams.
Added 2024/08/09:
This freeze extends to waiver claims for non-playoff teams and eliminated playoff teams. Non-playoff teams are unable to claim released players from playoff teams.
If there are any questions/clarifications on this, please ask.

Playoff time, everybody. The first round matchups are as follows:
1. Cardinals vs. 8. Dodgers 2. Red Sox vs. 7. Cubs 3. Pirates vs. 6. Royals 4. Diamondbacks vs. 5. Nationals
A reminder to non-playoff teams, you're prohibited from making signings past this point. To all teams, only 1 year deals are permissible now that playoffs have started.
Best of luck everybody!
