I'm still slightly hung up on the idea of being able to demote MLB players to your MiLB roster. (And this is coming from a guy who is currently 6 MiLB spots over the maximum) ((I'll get it solved before the season begins))
I would say the player would maintain their exact same contract. I would also say the player would be exposed to waivers for 48-72 (debatable amount) hours.
Please feel free to shoot down this idea if it seems silly but just something I wanted to throw out there.

I could support the idea of a 48-72 hr waiver only if someone claimed that player the team that put him on waivers had 24 hrs to put that player back on their roster. If they did put that player back on the roster he could not go through this process for the rest of the season
