I have to agree with the Astros, I don't see the need during the offseason. Your roster doesn't have to completed till opening day, that, in my opinion, is when the rule should begin. It's not that hard to know who is signed and who isn't if you just pay a little attention.

I pick my players up right away no matter what the IL list is so if I can do it we all can do it. Let’s quit making this difficult. Just pick up your players. Yes it should be all year round. Nothing worse than trying to bid on a player that has already been won by another team. First time should be no penalty. Second time should be $1 million cap hit. Third time should be one week suspension of your best player determined by the league manager.

Should only be an in season rule
Teams do sometimes have to wait in the offseason for IL moves to be made official on ESPN. Teams should make every effort regardless, but can sometimes be understandable if they can’t make the pickup right away. As said above in the thread, not hard to keep track of who’s signed and who isn’t and we generally don’t have issues during the offseason
No such IL waiting during the year (ESPN updates right away) so no such excuses available
48 hours to pick up your player in season, rosters must be updated with all pickups by opening day
No pickup within 48 hours = player goes to next highest bid

Let’s quit making this difficult you win a bid you have 48hr to pick him up. This is easy to do. If we were on Fantrax, it would not be an issue. you have all kinds of settings we can set it up anyway you want. You can even have a two-way player that and pick up the same time and accumulate points. IL player should have nothing to do with this rule.

It's not that hard to know who is signed and who isn't if you just pay a little attention. I had 3 players that went on the IL to start of the season. All 3 were on my roster before FA started. Knowing they were going to start on the IL as soon as the season started. That would have been a disadvantage for me.

Yeah this isn't an offseason thing for an IL'd player that isn't officially on ESPN until right at opening day. I would only apply this really strictly as an in-season rule. Although people should still strive to have updated rosters in the offseason as much as possible of course

okay so if we do this as an in season rule, then we need to hammer out the penalty phase of not picking up the player within 48 hours of winning the bid. I am in favor of 20% cap hit for the full length of the bid.

If it was me I would not do cap hit. 1 too many things could go wrong. If an owner is at his cap limit or not far from it a cap penalty could put him in the hole, then what drop a player or 2 to get even? 2 a cap hit could kill a bid and then what? Does the bid go to the 2nd highest bidder or what if we only have one bid……then what?
If it was me I would do points for the matchups that he is currently on.
1st time -25 points 2nd time -35 points
and so on or what ever the points we decide on to do that…….something like this

it's enough of a penalty to lose the player that you thought you signed in my opinion. don't want to get overly punitive for what will hopefully be a rare occurrence
