Just a reminder to everyone:
If you decline an option, you owe 1/4 of the option salary.

Yep, gotta pay 1/4 of Aoki's 3.8M - it's included in the "Player Releases" tab

Just a reminder to everyone:
If you decline an option, you owe 1/4 of the option salary.
CLARIFICATION:
There are a handful of original contracts out there that contain options. Those will become rarer and rarer as we go on as only the original contracts were based on real contracts. but for those contracts the actual real life options are to be paid.
Jonathan Niese for instance from Cots:
5 years/$25.5195M (2012-16), plus 2017-18 club options signed extension with NY Mets 4/4/12 $0.25M signing bonus 12:$0.7695M, 13:$3M, 14:$5M, 15:$7M, 16:$9M, 17:$10M club option ($0.5M buyout), 18:$11M club option ($0.5M buyout)
So he is only subject to a 0.5M buyout. Not the full 1/4 salary.
Sorry this is so complicated. Just how the league was set up.
