A few rules to follow for the contraction draft:
1. Only MLB and MiLB players are available to be drafted in the contraction draft. International $$ or draft picks are ineligible.
2. 24 hour time clock on picks - once the person ahead of you picks, you're on the clock.
3. Prospects above the 130AB/50IP threshold can be drafted, the drafting team will then have the option to give a guaranteed contract or not.
4. Contraction draft picks ARE tradeable, and were assigned based on league standings from last year.

Maybe I've over looked this, but when a MLB player is drafted in the contraction draft, how are we doing the contracts?

If you draft an MLB player from one of the four contracted teams, you take on that player and that player's contract as it currently stands. So for example, if somebody drafts Brandon Phillips in the contraction draft, the player and his contract move onto your roster and now you're on the hook for $13M in 2016 and $14M in 2017.

If you draft an MiLB player they are treated the same as all other prospects - they count as $0.3M when they are called up, are given (or not given) a guaranteed contract once they pass the threshold, and if they have an MLB contract value that differs from the 0.3/0.5/1/ARB format (guys like Jorge Soler, Yasiel Puig, Rusney Castillo, etc) then you accept that guaranteed contract that they signed in real life instead.
