Well with QO all LMs have to do is spreed sheet with RFA they have to see where are the player ranks then move the pick and make sure it’s the right one then make sure it’s placed in the correct spot for the draft. Sounds like fun a lot of work. I don’t care I was just a LM for a lot of years and I just think of the work that Hass to be done. I will go either way

If we go RFA, I'll run it for Taylor, I've been an LM for years too. It takes less than 2 minutes per player to have it all done.

Ok, this is very easy and very little work. Lets say you have 4 players on their last year of their contract you would like to keep. You use your 3 extensions and designate the 4th player as your RFA. That player would enter the FA draft just like he would have anyway. I win the bidding for him at lets say 3yrs / $1.M. Since he is your RFA, you can look at my winning bid and say that's good for me too and you keep that player at that price. Now, lets say you think he is not worth that, so you let me have him at that price. Since he was your RFA and you let me have him, you are awarded a "comp." pick for losing him. We use ESPN's top 100 preseason rankings for this. If said player was a top 20 player, you would receive a "comp." 1st rd. pick. That pick would be at the end of the first rd. If said player was in the next block of 20, you would receive a "comp." 2nd rd. pick and so on. It's close to what the MLB does. Ok thank you for the explanation, that makes a lot more sense! I was confused on giving up a round pick for a QO vs getting a completely new pick when you lose an RFA, but now that that distinction is made it clicked.

It doesn't sound like a huge amount of work to maintain, I just think we'll have to roll it out correctly and get everything spelled out properly. As long as that's done I'm fine introducing it if enough people are in favour of it.
Let's start 2 separate threads and try to spell out the exact rules / regulations of each, and then we'll put it to a vote in the offseason and see if enough people want to institute it.

I really dont think we should do QO and RFA. At most I think 1 or the other. Also, these new rules really change how people manage their teams especially drops so just putting that out there.

I agree with Atlanta. I’m a fan of qualifying offer with compensation pick

I agree as in we shouldn’t do both. I wasn’t speaking for Atlanta regarding liking the qualifying offer with compensatory pick

Correct, this isn't something we would institute until after next season. Otherwise teams would've behaved totally differently this year (i.e. you never would've dropped Bassit, you would've given him a QO / designated him an RFA) and teams wouldn't have dealt picks if they knew they needed them to hang onto them to give up for a QO.
