I would love to see a Qualifying offer. Maybe something like $15 million and the only other players if they want to put them up for bid would have to have a first round pick left from the next year so if they win the bid they have to give you a first round pick

So $15 or $16 million to anybody with an expiring contract that was less than that amount? If they already made more than that, then they aren’t eligible for the QO.

Maybe a higher $$ amount, 20 mill?
just spitballing, but initial ideas / thoughts
- Qualifying offer = 1 year, 20 mill - can only be QO'd once - bidding automatically starts from that team at 1 year 20 mill - anybody can bid after that - if nobody else bids, the team signs the player for 1/20mill - if other teams outbid and sign the player they owe a pick to the other team. 1st? 2nd? not sure

And you can only give one guy a QO a year?

And you can only give one guy a QO a year? that's a decent idea too, don't want a team loading up on half the first round when giving all their expiring FAs the QO lol but open to more if people disagree

QO should be done before we have the draft…….maybe right after the season……I like both ideas
- Qualifying offer = 1 year, 20 mill (must be an expiring contract) - can only be QO'd once - bidding automatically starts from that team at 1 year 20 mill - anybody can bid that has a 1st - if nobody else bids, the team signs the player for 1/20mill - if other teams outbid and sign the player they owe a pick to the other team a 1st from the next year - once bid upon follow FA rules - 1 Qualifying Offer a year
how do we handle players making 20mill and over? Not eligible?

Here is something we do that is similar ... In addition to your normal extensions, each team gets (1) restricted free agent (RFA) if they so desire. This player will enter the FA bidding just like all the rest with the normal FA rules. When there is a winning bid, the owner of the (RFA) has the choice to match the winning bid, or hand over to the team with the winning bid. If you lose your (RFA), you are awarded a supplemental draft pick. We break it down as such ... According to ESPN top 300 list, if you lose a player in the top 20, you receive a supplemental 1st round pick, that is added to the end of that round. The next 20, you receive a supplemental 2nd round and so on. This has worked well, easy to pick up for new owners, and lets everyone get involved if they so desire.

Oh yeah, I remember the RFA. I thought this QO thing felt familiar. What league was that we did that in? Were you in there with Joe Bittner and Clint?

I was, ( was it Diamond Kings? ) but now in a similar league where we started using RFA system.

Yeah, DK was one of them. Those were some pretty fun leagues.
